Spiritual Practice Opportunities

Blue Mountain Passage Meditation
Tuesdays at 4pm at Northwoods
We have been meeting at Northwoods for over 30 years to read and discuss books of the world mystics and writings by the teacher and founder of Blue Mountain Center of Meditation and join in a half hour of silent meditation.
This practice of Passage Meditation is based on memorized passages from mystical writings (eg. The Prayer of St. Francis, “Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace, etc.”) The aim of the meditator is to become what he/she meditates on.
The practice also includes 7 other points (allied living skills.) They include the use of a mantram, slowing down, one-pointed attention, putting others first, training the senses, joining with fellow meditators, and reading spiritual literature.
You can learn more at the website (bmcm.org)

Zen Buddhist Meditation Group
Meets the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 6:00 on Zoom.

The Zen Buddhist Meditation Group meets to deepen our own personal meditation practice, to learn more from readings on Buddhism and meditation, and to share in the energy of a group meditation.
The Northwoods sangha meets for shared meditation followed by a book discussion on meditation or Buddhism.
The evening includes a recorded guided meditation and a silent meditation. Use our custom URL to attend service: https://zoom.us/my/northwoodsuu or join by Meeting ID: 766 833 5778.

All are welcome to our Full Moon Drum Circles! We meet on the Friday closest to the full moon and start around 7 pm after optional smudging. Kids are expected to do what the adults are doing. Bring drums or shaky things and friends. We always have enough noise makers to go around. So much fun!

The Northwoods Drum Circle meets regularly, once a month on the Friday closest to the full moon.

Dates for 2024 are: January 26, February 23, March 22, April 26, May 24, June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20, October 18, November 15, December 13.
