Karen Williams, 74, born in Seaford, Long Island, New York on October 4, 1949, sadly left us on Monday, April 8th 2024 after battling severe back pain for almost two months. Karen is survived by her partner of 26 years, Charlie Lindahl; her beloved son Matthew Williams, her dear brothers Michael and Raymond White; and her pets, Emma the Golden Retriever puppy and Pythagoras the American Shorthair cat.

Her passing occurred at the apex of the solar eclipse. As one friend noted, it is poetic “that someone who brought so much sunshine into people’s life would leave us by taking the Sun with her for a ride.” And, indeed, for those closest to Karen it feels as though she took the sun itself with her.

Karen was a joyful and compassionate soul who loved creating beautiful things (particularly at her flower shop). Always generous with her time, she delighted in helping others. So much so that it reflected in every job she had. From her time with American Airlines, to being a Special Education teacher, to her twenty years as florist and flower shop owner, Karen found the most fulfillment in aiding others in ways big and small. She was well respected and loved by the community, family and friends, particularly in Houston where she’d been living for over 20 years.

She enjoyed traveling, frequently using her benefits as an AA retiree to visit distance places with family. (she particularly loved visiting Hawaii). Her absence is being felt by many including friends, customers, and surviving family.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held:

Date: April 27, 2024
Time: 10AM-11AM Central Standard Time
