The Healthy Congregation Team has done a deep dive into this question. For a year of study, they have taken the pulse of Northwoods to check up on our congregational health, and they have some good news to share and some hints about how we keep growing that Beloved Community. Join the team Sunday to hear the diagnosis.

Stop the Bleed Training

4 Million People Have Learned to Stop the Bleed – You can, too! The American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed program has prepared nearly 4 million people worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person. Mary Lytwyn will lead a training open to Northwoods friends and members on Sunday, May 4 at 12:30pm in the Garden Room.

Sharing Our Plate Collections

This Sunday we will collect nonperishable foods for the local food bank. Donated food must be nonperishable: cereal, pasta, oatmeal, canned goods, granola bars, beans, rice, etc. The food bank does not accept perishable foods (bread, fruits, veggies, etc.) If you would like to make a monetary donation, drop your donation in the collection plate, or you can donate online or by text – text your donation amount and the word “food” to 844-328-9670. Remember: We take food collections all month. Bring in a nonperishable item and drop it in the basket anytime you think about it.

Religious Education

Sunday Classes:

Chalice Children (Ages 2–4, Room 2 downstairs):
“My World Has Water” – Our youngest friends will learn why keeping our water clean is important for both ourselves and our planet.
Spirit Play (Pre-K – 1st Grade, Room 3 downstairs):
“Francis David” – We will explore our Unitarian Universalist heritage and reflect on the message that we are all grounded in love.
Explorers (2nd–4th Grades, Room 10 upstairs):
Workshop 17 – Value: Compassion and Kindness – We’ll discuss how our words and actions can make a meaningful difference.
Middlers (5th–7th Grades, Garden Room downstairs):
“Humanism – Lake Sunday” – We’ll share what we learned from our guest speaker about Humanism and explore ways to apply it to our daily lives as we conclude this unit.
Youth (8th–12th Grades, Teen Room upstairs):
Our youth will choose a project—individually or as a group—to support efforts to prevent bullying.

Options for Younger Children:

Our youngest friends can join the Chalice Children in the Childcare Room (Ages 2-4 yrs, room 2, downstairs). Families can also watch the service from the Family Room, or keep young children at the front of the sanctuary in the Wee Worship area.
