Earth-Centered Religion

Please join Terry Leyenberger in a conversation about earth-centered religion. He would love to hear your thoughts on what an earth-centered religion would look like.

Terry will be facilitating a one hour meeting in the Library after church service from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm, from January 11 to February 1. He asks that you come with an open mind, lots of questions, and an eagerness to learn about what earth-centered religions are all about.

There is no set agenda. This will be a causal conversation among friends. Terry would ask that you review the information found in the following two links. This information will give you an insight into earth-centered religions. There will be no drinks or snacks provided, so bring your own if that is something you need.

Master Gardener Ron Reeves and permaculture DUUDE (and irrigator extraordinaire) Mark Holt will answer questions and offer practical tips for winter-proofing ahead of the hard freeze that’s coming. Ron will also bring seeds for vegetables and seasonal color.

Classes This Sunday

Chalice Children (Ages 2–4) Room 2, downstairs. “I Can Touch” Our youngest friends will explore how we use our sense of touch to make sense of the world around us.

Spirit Play (Pre-K–1st Grade) Room 3, downstairs. “We Shall Overcome” Spirit Play friends will explore the history and origins of the song “We Shall Overcome.” This beloved hymn, rooted in African American spirituals, has evolved over time and become a powerful part of historic protest movements.

Explorers (2nd–4th Grades) Room 10, upstairs. “What Do You Stand For? – Honesty Exploration” Explorers will examine honesty and how challenging it can be in everyday life through games, stories, and role play.

Middlers (5th–7th Grades) Garden Room, downstairs. “Practicing Resistance: Resisting the Unhealthy Parts of Social Media” Middlers will explore what practicing resistance looks like by examining the challenges of unhealthy social media habits and learning how to set healthy boundaries.

Youth (8th–12th Grades) Teen Room, upstairs. “Practicing Resistance: Resisting the Unhealthy Parts of Social Media” Youth will continue exploring resistance by focusing on how personal social media boundaries can affect both themselves and others.

Options for Younger Children:

Our youngest friends can join the Chalice Children in the Childcare Room (Ages 2-4 yrs, room 2, downstairs). Families can also watch the service from the Family Room, or keep young children at the front of the sanctuary in the Wee Worship area.
