Carol Sue Book Stromatt, 85, entered Eternal Rest on October 28, 2025, at her home in The Woodlands, Texas.
She was born on October 22, 1940, in Lufkin, Texas, to Rebeca Sue Jones and William Carrol Book, and was lovingly named after both parents.
On October 10, 2025, Carol suffered a stroke. After ten days in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital–The Woodlands, and after extensive tests and evaluations, her family learned that she was not likely to regain full organ function. CHOICE Home Hospice Care began on October 19.
Honoring her long-standing wishes, Carol’s plan to participate in the University of Texas McGovern Medical School Whole Body Donation Program was carried out. Her final gift ensures that her life continues to help others beyond her last breath—she was truly a giver.
Carol earned the nickname “Boggie” from her grandfather before the age of three, thanks to the dance routines she performed to the music he loved.
On October 30, 1972, Mrs. Carol Book Estes adopted a daughter, Amy Carol Estes.
Carol later married William Richard Stromatt on April 27, 1997.
