Once Upon a Northwoods: A Storytelling Workshop
Sunday, November 15 – After Worship – Lunch Provided
We all have stories about what Northwoods means to us—the moments that made us feel at home, the relationships that changed us, the experiences that keep us coming back, and the possibilities we hope to help grow.
Join us for a relaxed, interactive storytelling workshop as we explore those stories together! We’ll help one another discover what we most want to say and how to share it in ways that are personal, authentic, and meaningful. We’ll also explore opportunities to share some of these reflections during worship as part of our new Two Minutes of Meaning series.
No writing or public speaking experience necessary, and there’s no need to come prepared with a story. Just bring yourself, your curiosity, and a willingness to listen and share. Lunch is on us!

Millbend Coffeehouse Presents
Spencer LaJoye

Spencer LaJoye makes queer indie folk music for everyone. Spencer is a multi-instrumentalist with a crystalline voice, and makes masterful use of the loop pedal to enhance performances. LaJoye is a relentless wordsmith, harvesting endless insight out of lived experience. Spencer’s songs dance effortlessly between theatrical grace and unhinged sincerity. Since the providential breakout of their anthemic hymn “Plowshare Prayer,” Spencer has been in non-stop motion, winning the 2021 Kerrville New Folk singer/songwriter contest, and returning in 2024, and winning their Songwriter Serenade Award.
The concert will be opened by Jaunetta Cooper, who will perform some of her own original music.

First Amendment Choir Practice
The First Amendment Choir is a public-facing group dedicated to expressing conscience, witness, and peaceful protest through song. Participants are welcome to bring their voices and/or any instruments they feel moved to share. Music has long been a powerful tool for moral courage, solidarity, and collective expression, and this group is rooted in nonviolence, care for one another, and the protection of fundamental freedoms.
In addition to musical participants, we are actively seeking non-musical participants, especially for protest. These roles may include presence, sign-holding, logistical support, or simply standing in visible solidarity. No musical experience is required—only a willingness to show up peacefully and together.
Meeting: Tuesdays at 6pm in the Garden Room.
