Socially Distanced IN PERSON Drum Circle
Come be united in rhythm, yet separate in silence. Our drumming lets us be “together” in a spiritual way that reminds us we are not alone during this time. There will be TWO full moons in October. The Harvest Moon (October 1) and Hunter’s Moon (October 31) will open and close the month. Our upcoming Silent Drum Circle will signify The Harvest Moon, said to be the full moon occurring nearest to the date of the autumnal equinox (September 22, 2020). Other names for this moon are Sanguine Moon, Blood Moon, Dying Grass Moon, and Travel Moon.
Northwoods Silent Drum Circles are held on the Fridays closest to the full moon, making our next drum circles October 2 and October 30. Please, note a time change. Because the days are longer and the sun sets earlier, we will start drumming at 7:30 pm for a few months. Arrival time is 7:15 pm. Drumming is from 7:30-8 pm in the church parking lot. The church building will be closed, including restrooms. Restrooms at the park next door are open. Kids need to understand that the playground is closed and they are to do what the adults are doing. Bring a chair or stool, blanket, tailgate, etc., your drum (or pot, box, or shaky thing). We will stay in verbal silence. Parking spots are assigned and participants are asked to stay in their designated area. Please, do not share drums or other items.
As usual, park where directed, separating parties by required distances, and wear masks. And MAKE SOME AWESOME NOISE! We welcome all, including those who are new to drumming and those who know that a good instrument can be pretty much anything you can bang on or shake. Reservations are required as we make plan for spacing and parking. To reserve, email Susan Blackmore at email@example.com with the number of people in your vehicle.
