Children's Religious Education
Religious education is an important commitment that we make to our children, our community, and ourselves. It is often the reason that people seek out and join religious communities. We welcome your family's participation! There is no cost for the program. Please register your children or youth here.
Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church’s (NUUC) Religious Education program has adopted the philosophy of providing a foundation for the lifelong endeavor of identifying that which is valuable and meaningful. The Religious Education program creates opportunities for children and youth to learn and practice Unitarian Universalist principles and traditions.
NUUC equips our young people with the tools needed to live lives which reflect those principles and traditions.
Our religious community carries out this vision by weaving together:
Education in classroom or group settings.
Ritual and worship by having a monthly themed Children’s Chapel.
Social interaction with time for fellowship, lock-ins and fun events.
Social action and service.
Curriculum varies each year. Below is an example of classroom topics and events:
*Church is fUUn! (2-3 year old class)
Introduces concepts of worship and fellowship with a short worship (church play) followed by structured freeplay.
*Spirit Play (pre k – Kindergarten ages 4-5)
Wanda’s Roses (Blue Promise)
Explores our fifth principle: Believe in our
ideas and act on them.
*Special Times (Elementary grades 1-2; ages 6-8)
Learn and explore the Christian tradition of Lent through the understanding of helping one another.
*Timeless Themes (Intermediate grades 3-6; ages 8-11)
A survey of the life of Jesus.
*Coming Of Age (Jr. High School grades; ages 12-14)
